The Allahabad High Court dismissed a writ petition, seeking permission from the state officials to install loudspeakers on the mosque. The court said that the real purpose of religious places is to pray, and the use of loudspeakers cannot be a matter of right.

Why did the High Court dismiss the petition?
The state (UP government) counsel objected to the acceptance of the petition, saying that the petitioner is neither Mutavalli (patron of property or institution) nor mosque. The court found that the petitioner does not have ‘Loks’ to file this writ petition. ‘Loks’ is a legal term that reflects a person or an institution’s right to participate in a legal proceedings or file a lawsuit.

Loudspeakers were removed from mosques
According to the report of India Today, in the last of December 2024 in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh, the UP police team removed loudspeakers from several mosques. Firozabad SP Ravi Shankar Prasad then told that action was taken after receiving several complaints regarding playing loudspeakers in loud voice from mosques. Following the complaints, the police had reduced the sound of loudspeakers in some places, while loudspeakers were removed from several mosques after allegedly found violations of the rules.
Gujarat High Court stand on loudspeaker
According to a report by India Today, the Gujarat High Court said in November 2023 that using loudspeakers for Ajan in mosques does not lead to noise pollution. Also, a PIL (PIL) demanding a ban on its use was rejected.
Then the bench of Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Sunita Aggarwal and Justice Anirudh P Mai called the petition “completely wrong”, saying, “We are failed to understand that a human voice noise pollution, which gives azan through loudspeakers in the morning, creates noise pollution How to reach the level of doing, which can pose a health threat to the common people. “
