In Varanasi, controversy over the ‘I Love Mohammad’ procession is increasing. A total of 13 people have been arrested by the police on charges of permission in Sigra, Dashashwamedh and Chowk police stations of Kashi Zone and taking out religious processions in a non -traditional manner. The police have also seized the DJs being used in the procession.
DCP Kashi Gaurav Banswal said that strict action will be taken against those arrested. He said that a case will also be filed against the relatives who took out the procession by including the children. This action is being taken with the aim of maintaining public safety and law and order.

The matter came to light when some Muslim community people started taking out a procession of ‘I Love Mohammad’ without permission. The police had already registered cases in three police stations of Kashi zone in Varanasi. After this, the accused people were arrested while intensifying the action. All people will soon be sent to judicial custody and further legal action will be taken.
Significantly, in Bareilly, lathicharge took place in protest against a similar procession and Maulana Tauqir Raza was arrested. The Varanasi police is in alert mode in this case and he said that no illegal activity will be tolerated. The interrogation of the arrested people is going on and the case is being investigated in depth.
