The MP-MLA court located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, has accepted a petition filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the case of alleged objectionable statement given against the Sikh community on Monday.
The petition was rejected earlier
Advocate Vivek Shankar Tiwari said that this petition was filed by Rahul Gandhi for the alleged statement given about Sikhs during his visit to America in September 2024. This petition was earlier dismissed by ACJM (Special MP-MLA Court) on 28 November 2023 after hearing.
After this, a revision petition was filed in the Sessions Court against this decision. On Monday, Additional District and Sessions Judge (MP-MLA Court) Yajuvendra Vikram Singh accepted this revision petition for hearing.
In the petition filed, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has been accused of hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community through a ‘provocative’ statement in the US. It has also been claimed that Khalistani terrorist Gurwant Singh Pannu supported Gandhi’s statement.
