The picture of the Vice Presidential election to be held on 9 September is now completely clear. After the nomination process and all the formalities of the investigation, now only two candidates are left in the electoral fray. One is NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan and the other is a common candidate of India Block, B Sudarshan Reddy.
This time there was a lot of enthusiasm among the candidates regarding the Vice Presidential election. A total of 46 candidates filed 68 nomination papers, but a large number of these were rejected at the initial level. Actually, 28 nomination papers of 19 candidates were not accepted on technical basis. 40 nomination papers of the remaining 27 candidates were examined on 22 August. During this period, many nomination papers were declared invalid under the rules related to the election.
As a result, the nomination papers of only two candidates were found valid.
Now match between these two leaders
CP Radhakrishnan’s nomination papers number 26, 27, 28 and 29 were accepted. Buchredi Sudarshan Reddy’s nomination papers numbers 41, 42, 43 and 44 were accepted. According to the schedule issued by the Election Commission, the candidates can withdraw their nomination by 25 August 2025. Only after this, the final candidate list of the post of Vice President will be released.
Election Commission issued notification
According to the notification issued by the Election Commission, voting will be held on 9 September 2025 for the post of Vice President and the results will also be revealed by late evening. Only MPs will vote in this election. All the elected and nominated MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha participate in the voting. Voting is done through secret ballot. The MPs give their favorite candidate a preference candidate.
Competition between CP Radhakrishnan and B Sudarshan Reddy
It has now been decided that the direct contest in the Vice Presidential elections will be between CP Radhakrishnan and B Sudarshan Reddy. CP Radhakrishnan has the support of the National Democratic Alliance i.e. NDA, while B Sudarshan Reddy is contesting as a candidate with India Block. In view of the number force, NDA candidate Radhakrishnan’s victory is being considered almost fixed, but now the real picture will be clear only after the voting on September 9, how many votes are held in whose favor.
