New Delhi. Despite the speculation of India’s postponement of Bangladesh tour in August, the series of white ball is likely to move forward. With the deteriorating diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh since the Sheikh Hasina government’s withdrawal in August last year, the fate of the IND Vs Ban series seemed tarnished. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not discussed the plan to postpone the tour. India will play three ODIs and the same number of T20 matches from August 17. If the tour progresses, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will return to the ODI for the first time after the announcement of Test retirement.
According to BCCI sources, the series continues at the moment and BCCI has not discussed any discussion about postponing or cancellation of the series. We have not received any instructions from the government to cancel the series. If such a situation is created, then we will decide accordingly.

The new Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who made changes in its officials, announced the program in April in which the ODI matches will start in Mirpur on August 17 and end in Chittgaon on August 23. The three -match T20 series will begin on 26 August and end on 31 August. India has not won any ODI series in Bangladesh since 2014. With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s return to the team, it will be a chance for India to win and end 11 years of misfortune. Last time when India played a three-match ODI series in Bangladesh, India led by Rohit Sharma had to face a 1-2 series defeat. India has never played bilateral T20 series in Bangladesh. This will be the first time that the current world T20 champion will play a three -match T20 series in Bangladesh. India won the series 3-0 in the recently played T20 series against Bangladesh.
Who instead of Suryakumar Yadav, who is captain?
If India vs Bangladesh T20 series is according to the schedule, then playing India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav can be doubtful. Suryakumar has recently undergone successful surgery of sports hernia in the lower right part of the abdomen in Munich, Germany. He is expected to fit in two months, which will make him doubtful to play in India versus Bangladesh T20 series. If they do not fit until then, Akshar Patel is likely to take command of the team. India’s Test captain Shubman Gill is the vice-captain of the T20 team, but he is likely to be resting with the players of the Test team going to England.
New players can get a chance
India vs England Test series will end on 4 August. After two weeks, India vs Bangladesh ODI series will begin. Therefore, most Test players, including Gill, Rishabh Pant and Jaspreet Bumrah, are likely to be relaxed. Instead, this head coach Gautam Gambhir will have a chance to try the ODI for the preparation of the World Cup 2027, while the Asia Cup is according to the schedule in 2025 September, if the BCCI selection committee may call back some players for the T20 series. The Asia Cup T20 World Cup will be the only multinational tournament before 2026. Team India will play 15 and T20 matches after the Bangladesh series. Therefore, there is a possibility that BCCI gives relief to all the players of the Indian team for England.
