Waqf amendment bill in rajya sabha: Opposition parties have described it as unconstitutional, anti -people and politics inspired by the Waqf Amendment Bill from Rajya Sabha. Kapil Sibal said in a conversation with the media that the government had a majority in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, but this bill reflects partition in the country. He said that voting was cast in 128 sides and 94 votes in voting, due to which it is clear that a large number of people opposed it.
Sibal said that this will affect elections in states like Bihar, where the opposition can benefit. He described it as part of the politics dividing the society and said that this bill will not solve real issues like poverty, unemployment, education and health. According to him, this is a political move, which will increase the controversy and the government feels that it will benefit it. Sibal warned that this is not good for the future of the country.
Opposition’s moral victory
Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi called it the moral victory of the opposition. He said that there was a difference of 35 votes against the bill in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha cast 95 votes against 94. The government did not even get a majority in the first vote and the second vote won with a very small margin. Singhvi called it against the mandate and said that the government has forced it by misusing its majority.
Full possibility of being unconstitutional
He claimed that if the bill was challenged in the court, it is likely to be unconstitutional, especially under Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution. Singhvi also said that this bill destroys the autonomy of the Muslim community and will create mistrust in the society. According to him, it is against the public mood and there is a lack of widespread support.
‘Government has a majority ego’
RJD leader Manoj Jha questioned the intention of the government. He said that the first farmer laws were also passed in this Parliament, which had to be withdrawn later. Jha accused the government of majority ego and said that having a number force does not mean that every knowledge is with the government.
He described it as non-essential and divisive. Jha said that the majority of the government in the Rajya Sabha was not very strong, yet it got it passed. He warned that if the displeasure of the public is not removed, then the fate of this bill can also be like farmer laws. Jha appealed to the government to introspect and show seriousness.
