Waqf amendment bill 2025 Home Minister Amit Shah Retaliates on Digvijay Singh Statement Over Gujarat Riots

Waqf amendment bill in rajya sabha: After passing from the Lok Sabha, there was a fierce debate between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress’s Digvijay Singh during the ongoing debate between the Waqf Amendment Bill, the party and opposition MPs on the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2025.

BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi was speaking during the discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha. During this, he said, “Earlier, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Jarik Hussain, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Sahir Ludhianvi, Kaifi Azmi were the first Muslim symbol of Muslim society, but today the leadership of Muslim society is associated with people like Mukhtar Ansari, Ishrat Jahan, Yakub Menon, Atik Ahmed.”

Digvijay Singh objected to Sudhanshu Trivedi’s speech

After this speech by Sudhanshu Trivedi, MPs of opposition parties objected. Congress MP Digvijay Singh said, “What Sudhanshu Trivedi has said about Muslims is completely condemnable.” Digvijay Singh further said, “Which people were responsible for the riots that took place in Gujarat? When there were riots in Gujarat, Amit Shah was the Home Minister there, he should tell what role he had there?”

Amit Shah retaliated on Digvijay Singh’s charge

Union Home Minister Amit Shah retaliated at Digvijay Singh’s statement, saying, “He is such a gesture in my name that I see only. I became the Home Minister of Gujarat, 18 months after the rioting, I was not the Home Minister when there was a riot.”

It is noteworthy that earlier on Wednesday (April 2), the Waqf Amendment Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha. After the discussion that lasted for about 12 hours, the bill has been passed at two o’clock in the late night. 288 MPs voted in favor of the bill and 232 MPs in protest.
