Waqf amendment bill: In the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced the Waqf Amendment Bill on Wednesday (April 2, 2025). During the discussion on this bill, opposition leaders targeted the Modi government fiercely. SP MP from Ghazipur, Afzal Antansari said, ‘When the minister was presenting these bills, he emphasized on special points, many of my questions are focused on the same points’.
Afzal Ansari said, ‘Through this bill the government wants to preserve Waqf properties, but the question is why this Waqf Amendment Bill was needed to preserve Waqf’s properties. You could cooperate to preserve Waqf properties anyway. Why did you try for this by making a separate bill ‘?
What did the government do on the women’s bill? Afzal asked
The SP MP said in the Lok Sabha, ‘Your minister said that through this we want to give rights to backward Muslims of the country, especially Pasmanda Muslims, want to give them the benefit of this property, but the reservation of the majority sections of the country was eaten. The government of the Muslims of the country is so fruitful, it is not understood. He further said, ‘You also said that through this bill, Muslims will bring schemes for welfare of women, will do their welfare and they will participate in it. The strange thing is that this government has not done anything about what this government has passed by this government, it has kept silence about it ‘.
‘A new business of buying and selling is going to come’
Afzal Ansari said, ‘The heads of the House could not protect their family, could not give them justice, could not give rights but they talk about giving rights to minority women. They are unable to conserve the national monuments of the country. Shah Jahan has built a Red Fort and has been given to the private company to protect it. He further said, ‘The tallest building in Mumbai is said to have been built on the land of Yatimkhana. The government’s concern about this question has increased. It is being said to sell the vacant vaults of Waqf. This means that a new business of buying and selling is going to come ‘.
