Waqt amendment bill in Lok Sabha MP Sambit Patra Says Modi Government Wants Progress of Pasmanad and Other Community | Why is there a ruckus? Patra said on the Waqf Amendment Bill

Sambit patra on waqf amendment bill: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sambit Patra said on Wednesday (April 2) that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants the development of Pasmanda and Bohra society, so why is there a ruckus on it. Taking part in the discussion on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha, Patra said that the Muslims of India are more secure than the Muslim countries of the world.

He said that there is no Waqf system in Muslim countries like Türkiye, Indonesia, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, while Waqf law exists in India. He said that if the Modi government wants the development of disadvantaged communities like Pasmanda and Bohra Samaj of Muslims, then why has there been an uproar in it.

He asked in question, “Is it wrong to talk about the development of the people of these society, to include them in the Waqf and by doing so Modi ji is doing wrong?”

Mohammad Ghori started Waqf started- Patra

Nishikant Dubey of BJP quoted history as saying that if the opposition considers Mohammad Ghori and Mahmud Ghaznavi as anxiety, then he should also know that Ghori had started the Waqf earlier.

He also said that more Muslims than India live in Turkey, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia and there are no Muslim countries in the whole world where this right has been given, but the right to Waqf has been given in India.

Apart from this, he supported the Bill, TE Uday Srinivas of Janasena Party said that the committee made a lot of efforts in giving this bill the current form. M. Mallesh Babu of Janata Dal (Secular), while supporting the bill, appealed to all parties to support it.

Congress member accused central government

At the same time, Congress member Amarinder Singh Raja Wading alleged that the government is trying to snatch the land of Muslims and bow them down.

Former Union Minister and Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal took a dig at the BJP and said that “The party whose politics is focused on Hindu-Muslims, where did they get worried about Muslims.” He said that according to the government, if this bill is so beneficial of Muslims, then why is not a single Muslim MP present in the House.

Harsimrat said, “If the intention of the government is clear then two Muslims should be included in the Ram temple board in Ayodhya.” During this time, Independent Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav also participated in the discussion.
