IMD Weather Forecast: Visibility became zero in many areas due to dense fog in the morning in Delhi for the second consecutive day. Due to bad weather, 81 trains are running behind schedule. Road traffic has also been affected due to dense fog. An accident occurred due to fog on a highway in Hisar, Haryana, in which two people died. Flight operations at Delhi airport were temporarily stopped and the routes of 15 flights were changed.
More than 360 flights delayed
Due to bad weather, more than 360 flights across the country were delayed and about 60 flights were cancelled. The routes of 15 flights were changed from Delhi airport between 12.15 pm and 1.30 pm. Airlines including IndiGo and Air India issued advisories to passengers saying, “Flight operations will be affected in Delhi and parts of North India due to poor visibility.” Indigo said, “Fog conditions are varying in many areas of North India. Timing of flights may be affected due to fog.”
65 flights disrupted at Kolkata airport
According to flight monitoring platform Flightradar, 65 flight services were delayed and five were canceled at Kolkata airport. Similar situation prevailed at Chandigarh, Amritsar, Agra and many other airports of North India. Vehicles were moving very slowly due to lack of visibility in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Lucknow, Agra, Karnal, Ghaziabad, Amritsar, Jaipur and many other places.
many trains are running late
The Meteorological Department said that since 11:30 pm on Friday night, there is a situation of zero visibility and dense fog at the airport. Northern Railway said that a total of 59 trains were running late by up to six hours from their scheduled time, while 22 trains were running late by about eight hours. According to Central Pollution Control Board data, the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 380 at 9 am, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category.
Fog will continue to wreak havoc in Delhi-UP
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert, warning of cold and dense fog in Delhi for the next 24 hours. In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the temperature was recorded at 11.4 degrees Celsius at 5.30 am on Saturday. The temperature in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, was recorded at -0.6 degrees Celsius at 5.30 am on Saturday.
There will be snowfall again in the mountains
According to the Meteorological Department, due to the active western disturbance in the Himalayan region, there is a possibility of snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and other states during the next 4-5 days, the effect of which will be seen in the plains as well. There may be light to moderate rain in the plains in the next 4-5 days. There will be no major change in temperature in North-West or Eastern India in the coming days. The cold wave has increased in Uttar Pradesh, frost has also started occurring here at night. Similar cold wave conditions will continue in UP till January 15.
