Trees were covered with snow in Gurez Valley during fresh snowfall in upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

IMD scientist Naresh Kumar said on Friday that Western Disturbance is active in the Western Himalayas. There may be light to moderate snowfall in these areas in the next 4-5 days. There is a possibility of heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir on January 4 and 5. It may rain in the surrounding plains.

Regarding the weather of Delhi, he said that there may be light rain in the city on January 6. Cold wave will continue in the northern states. However, the temperature may increase by 2 to 3°C in the next two-three days.

Meanwhile, the city’s maximum temperature was recorded at 21.2°C and minimum temperature at 7°C. Apart from this, a reading of more than 400 was recorded in the Air Quality Index, which indicates severe category pollution.

Cold wave continues in Jammu and Kashmir. The temperature remains below zero in many areas. According to IMD, -1.2°C was recorded in Srinagar, 0.8°C in Gulmarg, -3.8°C in Pahalgam, 3.6°C in Banihal and -1°C in Kupwara.

Temperature drops in Rajasthan, dense fog in Punjab-Haryana A decline has been recorded in the temperature of Rajasthan. A dense blanket of fog remained in Jaipur, while the temperature was recorded at 10.2°C.

According to IMD, the temperature was recorded at 9.6°C in Jaisalmer, 6.8°C in Sriganganagar, 7°C in Udaipur, 9.2°C in Bikaner and 7.8°C in Churu.

Dense fog is also expected in Punjab and Haryana. Day temperatures in both the states have dropped sharply in the last few days and remain between 12 to 16°C.

The minimum temperature of Chandigarh was 10.4°C yesterday. The minimum temperature was recorded at 10.1°C in Ambala, Haryana, 9.4°C in Karnal and 9.2°C in Rohtak.

While the minimum temperature was recorded at 7.2°C in Amritsar, Punjab, 8.4°C in Ludhiana and 8.2°C in Patiala. Sri Anandpur Sahib recorded a minimum temperature of 9.4°C.

400+ flights delayed in Delhi and 30+ flights delayed in Guwahati Cold and bad weather is also affecting connectivity. There was dense fog in Delhi on Friday also and visibility reached zero. Due to this, about 400 flights were delayed. According to flight tracking website Flightradar24.com, about 470 flights were delayed.

At the same time, more than a dozen flights had to be canceled at Guwahati International Airport, while more than 30 flights were delayed. The airport authority said that the entire operation was disrupted due to dense fog. Similar conditions are expected to prevail in the coming days also.
