The Meteorological Department has predicted cold conditions in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Madhya Pradesh.
IMD said that there is a western disturbance over western Iran, due to which there is a possibility of light to scattered rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan region. According to IMD, there is a possibility of dense fog in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal today (January 02, 2025) night and January 3 morning. Apart from this, similar conditions are likely to prevail in Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura in the next 2-3 days.
Two western disturbances are becoming active
Apart from this, two western disturbances are continuously becoming active over the mountains and plains of North-West India. The first disturbance was over Jammu and adjacent northern Pakistan on Thursday (January 02, 2025), while the second was over central Iran.

The moist winds blowing over the Himalayan heights will cool down and will cause light to scattered rain and snowfall over the hills (Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand) for three days and scattered to very heavy rain and snowfall on Sunday and Monday. Will happen. These days, there will be heavy rain at different places in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.
Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of thunderstorms at different places in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh on Sunday and Monday. Also, light to scattered rain has been predicted in the surrounding plains (Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Western Uttar Pradesh) from Saturday to Monday.
There will be a drop in temperature in these areas
Due to western disturbance, the minimum temperature in many parts of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh remained below 0 degrees Celsius. Temperatures have dropped by 2-4 degrees Celsius in many parts of central India, while temperatures have dropped by 1-2 degrees Celsius in many parts of northwest and eastern India.
The minimum temperature in many parts of North-West and Central India and Jharkhand remained between 4-9 degrees Celsius. It was 9-14 degree Celsius in many parts of East India and 14-18 degree Celsius in many parts of West India. The lowest minimum temperature recorded in the plains was 4.4 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in north-west India may increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius during the next five days. Also, there are indications of no significant change in Central and Eastern India for the next three days, but after that the minimum temperature may gradually increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius.
