There has been a stir after the case of separate food for students of different communities for many years in a primary school in East Bardhaman district of West Bengal. Following the order of the district administration, the school officials abolished this practice on Wednesday (June 25, 2025).
Kishoriganj Manmohanpur Primary School, located in the East Block, about 150 km from Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, has 72 students, of which 29 Muslims and 43 Hindu children study. & Nbsp;
The school had maintained different kitchens and utensils to make mid-day meal since 2000. Along with this, there were two cooks. Although the food of children was cooked on the same gas connection, the students were served food in different classes based on their religion.
District Magistrate ordered an inquiry According to an official, this practice has now been closed and it has been decided that now both the cooks will prepare the mid -day meal. Children from all communities will be served food together. Apart from this, a self -help group (SHG) will soon be formed to cook mid -day meal in the school. ‘This practice was going on for the last 25 years’ According to the rules, children will be served food by sitting next to each other regardless of their religion.
