Mamata bnerjee on eci: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has once again made serious allegations against the Election Commission. He said that in the name of Bihar elections, the process of implementing NRC is being done across the country. Election Commission is going to start special intensive voter list revision campaign in six states including Bihar. Its purpose is to remove illegal citizens from the voter list and prepare an accurate and reliable voter list. By the end of this year, assembly elections are going to be held in Bihar, from which this process is being started here first.
Mamta Banerjee enraged Election Commission over voter list
CM Mamta Banerjee raised the question on what basis this list is being prepared. He alleged that the Bihar government has started preparing a list of voters on the basis of caste details recorded in the caste certificate of voters as per the instructions of the Chief Electoral Officer. He said, “This action has caused concern whether the same behavior is being done in other states.”
CM Mamta Banerjee said, “The Election Commission of India (ECI) has sent two letters to the state (Bihar), in which the officers have been instructed to submit a manifesto from the person to register their names in the voter list. The Election Commission has also made it mandatory to submit the birth certificate of parents for verification.”
Questions raised on the new rule of voter list
The CM of Bengal said that the Election Commission cannot give instructions that a new voter list will be made in a fairy. He accused the Election Commission of treating citizens like slaves. He stressed that an elected government is not under anyone. He questioned the right to implement such rules on behalf of the Election Commission.
‘Bonded laborers understand governments’
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the Election Commission feels that elected governments and political parties are their bonded laborers. He claimed that the Election Commission sought information from TMC about booth level agents, which the party has refused to give. He said, “Why should we give such information to someone. All this is a planning made by BJP campaigners.”
