What did the professor say on the new logo, who made a symbol of ‘₹’? Answer to DMK connection also – Professor who designed the ‘₹’ symbol refused to comment on new logo said this on DMK Connection NTC

A few hours after the Tamil Nadu government on Thursday released a new logo of rupee for the state budget, Professor D Uday Kumar of IIT Guwahati, who designed a logo of Indian rupee, refused to get into a dispute over the language. He said that it is just a coincidence that his father was an MLA from DMK.

The DMK government of the southern state has changed the symbol of Devanagari rupee in its logo with the Tamil letter for the budget 2025-26, which will be introduced in the assembly on Friday. The BJP has objected to this move of the government. Whereas the ruling party has surprised whether any rule stops such illustration.

Refusal to respond

In this whole case, D Uday Kumar told the news agency, ‘I have no response. The government suddenly felt that there was a need to change and they wanted to implement their script. It is dependent on the state government. So I have nothing to say about this. It is completely dependent on the government.

‘This is mere coincidence’

The professor said, ‘My father was an MLA before my birth. Now they are old and are living their lives peacefully in our village. This was just a coincidence, maybe I would have been someone else.

He said, ‘This is just that he was a DMK MLA and the DMK government changed the design. Apart from this, I do not see anything else, this is a pure coincidence that has happened.

The state budget logo released on Thursday by the Tamil Nadu government has written ‘Ru’ which is the first letter of the Tamil word ‘Rubai’ which reflects Indian currency in the local language.

The title was also written on the people the title ‘Everything for everyone’, which shows the claim of the inclusive governance model of the ruling DMK.

‘The design that created was the government’s demand’

Recalling his experience while designing the symbol of the Indian rupee, Kumar said, ‘The design I created was based on some requirements sought by the government. It was a competition organized by the Government of India. I participated in it and my design was elected the winner of the competition and then it was implemented.

Kumar said that the Tamil Nadu government might have thought that this is the right time to change it with its own design and I have nothing to say on it.

According to the official portal ‘www.knowindia.india.gov.in’, the rupee is a mixture of Devanagari ‘R’ and Roman Capital ‘R’, with two parallel horizontal straps at the top that represent the national flag and the “equal” mark. It said, ‘The Indian rupee mark was adopted by the Government of India on 15 July 2010.’

Let us tell you that Uday Kumar’s father N Dharmalingam was an MLA from the DMK party from Rishivandium constituency in 1971, which is currently power in Tamil Nadu. While Uday is a postgraduate in design from IIT Mumbai.
