In view of the assembly elections in Bihar, there has been a political uproar over the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list. Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly Tejashwi Yadav has opened a front against the Election Commission.
Questioning the claim of more than 80 percent forms of the Election Commission, he said that if this figure is true then how many forms are verified in it. Tejashwi also feared that the results of about 3 dozen seats were affected when one percent vote was cut. He said that if even one percent voters are missed or could not give documents, then the names of 3251 voters will be cut in each assembly.
A total of 7 crore 90 lakh voters are named in Bihar’s voter list. After verification in the voter list, if the names of 1 percent of the voters are also cut, then this number crosses 7 lakhs, while the number of assembly seats in Bihar is 243. In such a situation, Tejashwi has its own reason for concern with one percent vote.
In the 2020 Bihar assembly elections, the result in about a dozen seats was less than a thousand votes. Apart from this, there were about 5 dozen seats on which the difference of victory was around 5,000 votes.
Overall, there are about five dozen seats in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, where the possibility of the results being affected by cutting or joining a percentage is being affected by Tejashwi and other opposition parties.
