The NDA government has taken a big step for women empowerment in Bihar. Mukhyamantri Mahila Employment Scheme has started from today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme on 26 September at 11 am through video conferencing.

Many ministers including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha also attended this program.

The purpose of the scheme is to make women self -reliant and promote empowerment through self -employment.

Women will get 10 thousand rupees

Under this scheme, a woman of every family of Bihar will be given the first installment of ₹ 10,000 for the employment of her choice. 6 months after starting work, based on evaluation, they can also get additional assistance of up to a maximum of ₹ 2 lakh. It is a community-based scheme, in which women associated with self-help groups will be given financial help as well as work training.

Development of rural haats

The scheme also includes a plan to further develop rural haats in the state to promote the sale of products after production. This step will help women to bring their products to the market and promote their livelihood.

Who will be able to take advantage of the scheme?

To take advantage of the scheme, the woman must be a permanent resident of Bihar. The minimum educational qualification of the applicant should be 10+2, Intermediate, ITI, Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent. The age of the applicant should be between 18 and 60 years. This scheme is for all religions and castes and it also includes transgender individuals. No member in the applicant’s family should be in a government job nor should an income tax payer.
