Apoorva Lakhia remembered the shooting of ‘Lagaan’ when he first came from America for Aamir’s film. The superstar wanted Hollywood style on the set of Apoorva film. Apoorva says that he arranged a bus for the cast who used to take everyone towards the set together.
In the podcast of Cyrus Brocha, Apoorva said, ‘Aamir told me that Apoorva I want you to handle the entire work of rent as an assistant. When I asked him if he wanted me to come and change everything on the set? Then he said yes. Then I told Aamir that you have to trust me and listen to me. First of all I said that everyone will go in a bus, there will be no car. All will come according to my time, their watches will not work.
Aamir was late, Apoorva came out with the bus
Apoorva further said that he was trying to run this System very serious in which Aamir and his first wife Reena Dutta supported. The filmmaker told that he used to take the bus out of the hotel on time and did not wait for anyone for more than five minutes. Apoorva said, ‘I told everyone that your watches will not be useful. Only the clock time near me and the lift will be considered.
‘Whoever reaches the bus late, we will leave it. Just will not stop for more than 5 minutes. People could not understand what I want to do. Thank God, Aamir was late on the third day and I got a chance to set an example. I waited for Aamir 4.55 minutes but he did not come. Ronit Roy, who was taking care of Aamir’s security at that time, refused to walk. During this time, the whole cast was looking at me thinking that I have come from America, what will I do next.

Apoorva Lakhia says that Ronit Roy was not letting him take a bus without Aamir. Fed up, Apoorva kicked Ronit Roy and threw it out of the bus. During this time, Aamir’s wife Reena Dutta was asking the driver of the bus to drive the bus. Apoorva told, ‘I caught the bus’s neck and asked him to run the bus. We ran away from the hotel without Aamir. The crew and cast of the entire film kept watching me. Actor Yashpal Sharma told me that tomorrow you will be sent to Mumbai.
‘I said okay, no problem. People will remember me for this. Meanwhile, we reached the set. Aamir arrived there after about one and a half hours because there was no car or bus so that he could reach time. Although Aamir was not angry with me. This was his way to appreciate my work.
