In the world of crime solving, whenever there is talk of advanced technology, DNA, fingerprint and cyber forensics first come in the mind. But there is also a technique, which is gradually becoming very important for police and forensic experts, that is the year print forensics. Research led by Delhi University researcher Lokesh Chugh proved that human ear print is also unique like a fingerprint. This technology has helped the police in many high-profile cases and has played an important role in solving big crimes.
How does the year print forensics work?
When a criminal listens to the movement inside a house or office wall, door or window, he leaves an ear print there. Just like fingerprints are left. It is formed due to print oil, sweat and skin structure. Forensic experts capture it with special chemicals and high-resolution imaging technology and mix it with the data of the solved case.
The world’s crime case, when ‘ear print’ became the biggest evidence
Britain’s bank robbery case (2005)
There was robbery in a bank in England but the criminals did not leave any fingerprint. The police found an ear print near the door, which was scanned and matching the database and reached the culprit.
Italian serial Bergler (2018)
In Italy, a thief used to break into the cells of rich people, but due to cleaning his hands, there was no fingerprint. Then the police collected ear prints from the windows of the houses and finally the culprit was caught.
France Murder Mystery (2021)
After the murder of a woman, the police received an ear print near the spot. Then the criminal was tracked and sentenced to life imprisonment by mixing DNA evidence and ear prints.
What is cyber forensics and ear print connection
Now it comes to technology, when a person does digital crime, he can leave not only the online trail, but also physical evidence. Some cyber criminals leave their ear prints everywhere while making plans for theft. In such cases cyber forensics and ear print analysis work together.
Year print forensics gives accurate results
Scientific research has proved that every human’s ear is different, due to which the possibility of identity increases by 100%. It is considered a non-entruble evidence because DNA testing requires samples, but ear prints can be taken without any direct contact. Apart from this, very few falls positive cases are reported in the year print compared to finger prints.
These two big challenges are still in front
So far, a big database of ear print has not been created in the world like fingerprint.
The ear print does not become clear on every surface, especially if the wall is not smooth.
How did research confirmed
Researcher Lokesh Chugh told that apart from Muslims and Brahmins of Uttar Pradesh, I took ears of ears of 600 people of Jatav caste of Delhi. For this, I chose such people whose three generations are getting married in their own society. The samples went for people of every age group. On studying these samples, it was found that the print of one’s ear does not meet the other. Just the way of analyzing it is a little time -taking, so even today DNA is more admitted as evidence in the court, but if it is calculated properly, it is also recognized as evidence.
How will crime solving change in future
Dr. Lokesh Chugh says that forensic science is constantly getting advanced and now ear print is being given the same importance as fingerprint or DNA. The research of Lokesh Chugh and his team has made it clear that police and investigative agencies will use this technology on a large scale in the coming time. In Bhavishya, the culprit can be caught through his ear print.
