The Supreme Court on Monday (August 4, 2025) questioned the Manipur government that despite its instructions, former Chief Minister of the state N.K. Why the new forensic report was not presented on the authenticity of the audio clip alleging Biren Singh’s role in ethnic violence. A bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma asked the state citing the previous order, “What happened to the forensic report? At least it should have come. This order was given in May 2025. Three months have passed. By now, the forensic laboratory must have given you the report. At least tell that the report has come or is waiting now. ”

When the lawyer appearing for Manipur said that the FSL report has not come, the bench further asked, “How long does FSL take to give a certain report on the analysis of the voice?” We will leave it. It cannot run endless. ”

East CJI Sanjeev Khanna had given instructions to file new reports

A bench headed by former Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna on May 5 examined a forensic report on the authenticity of the leaked audio clip, accusing the former Chief Minister of Manipur and asked the state government to file a new report on the investigation.

In this, a sealed report of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) presented by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and asked them to receive instructions from the state officials regarding the investigation.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said, “FSL report has been filed in this case. We need a month’s time to investigate this. ”Mehta said that the Manipur High Court can hear the matter as peace is maintained and the investigation can continue.
