Boys cry in the street
But the story of 25 -year -old Amanjot is not as bright as his performance. One evening when Amanjot Kaur was playing cricket with boys in the streets of Mohali, she was refused to bat. The reason was given, ‘They do not have their own bat.’ But the truth was that a few days ago, Amanjot had rained fours against the same boys, due to which he was irritated.
The next day, Amanjot was ready for the game with the bat in his hand, but once again she had to listen to taunts to play ‘boys’ game. That evening she wept with her father. Bhupinder just said, ‘You are the game.’
Amanjot Kaur’s father is his backbone
International debut in 2023
This bat became the foundation of Amanjot’s confidence. Over time, the boys also allowed him to play. 14 years later in 2023, when Amanjot scored 41 runs off 30 balls against South Africa in a debut match for India and won the team, his father remembered the same evening full of tears.
Amanjot also credits his success to his father. He all remember how Papa used to leave his work and go to practice him. There was a time when Amanjot stumbled rates for the girls’ cricket academy in Mohali, Chandigarh and Panchkula, then he found coach Nagesh Gupta at the age of 14, in whose connection the journey of Amanjot started.
