Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh on Tuesday apologized for the caste conflict in the state and appealed to all communities to forget past mistakes and live together in a peaceful and prosperous state. More than 250 people lost their lives in the ethnic conflict in the state and thousands were rendered homeless.

During a press conference on December 31, 2024, N Biren Singh said, “This entire year has been very unfortunate. I regret whatever has happened from last May 3 till today and I want to apologize to the people of the state. “Many people lost their homes. I’m really sorry.”
He further said, “Now, I hope that after seeing the progress towards peace of the last 3-4 months, I am hopeful that with the new year 2025, normalcy and peace will be restored in the state. I want to appeal to all the communities that whatever happened, we have to forget the past mistakes and start a new life, we all should live together.
