Jobs will increase in Google, will not decrease
Pichai assured that due to AI, there is no major plan to trim in Google. Rather, they hope that by next year the engineering team in the company will increase further. He says that with the help of AI, new products are being made, so that more people may need to be hired.
Sorted, but limited
It is true that Google has been trimmed first. In 2023, the company took out more than 12,000 employees and over 1,000 people were removed last year. But in 2025 this number is quite low. This year, only less than 100 people have been trimmed in the cloud team and a few hundred people in the devices unit. That is, now the scope of pruning is small and targeted.
Google’s new projects and innovation
Pichai also mentioned new projects of Google’s parent company Alphabet. They are emphasizing projects such as vayo (self-driving car), quantum computing and YouTube. Especially in big markets like India, YouTube’s reach is increasing, which is a big opportunity for the company.
