Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) senior leader ET Mohammad Bashir said on Thursday (March 20, 2025) that Shashi Tharoor is a strong warrior fighting against fascist forces and opposition coalition in Kerala is a capital for the United Democratic Front (UDF) and there should be no doubt that he will stand firmly with Congress."Text-Align: justify;"> He said that stories have been fabricated about some statements of Tharoor but people should not think that he will be dissatisfied because we are confident that he will stand firmly with the Congress and will play a major role in his party. Asked whether Tharoor may be the chief ministerial contender in Kerala, Bashir said, ‘The decision about the Chief Minister is to decide the Congress and IUML is not the party in any such case’.

IUML is a major component in Congress -led UDF in Kerala. Bashir made this comment when Tharoor had said that opposing the Indian government’s attitude when the Russia-Ukraine war broke out in the past proved to be embarrassed for him. He also said that due to the policy adopted by the government, India is now in a position where it can play a decisive role for permanent peace.
BJP’s Kerala unit has praised Tharoor’s statement. Lok Sabha members from Thiruvananthapuram were at the center of controversy with their article written in an English daily a few weeks ago, in which the development of entrepreneurship in Kerala was praised under the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government.
‘Tharoor stands firmly with the Congress’
When asked about Tharoor’s role in the assembly elections in Kerala next year, Bashir said, “& lsquo; His role in the assembly elections is very important because he (in the past) has been very helpful. He is very knowledgeable, people like him. If people create stories on any of his statements, they are not responsible. He is standing firmly with the Congress. & Rsquo;
Bashir emphasized that Tharoor is a strong warrior against fascist forces. The leader of the IUML in the Lok Sabha said, & lsquo; & lsquo; There should be no confusion. People should not think that they will be dissatisfied. We believe that he will stand firmly with the Congress, he will have a major role in the Congress. & Rsquo; Asked if the UDF will present the face of a Chief Minister before the election, Bashir said, & lsquo; We have not discussed that point, we will discuss when the election comes close. & Rsquo; He also hoped that this time LDF would be farewell to power and the UDF government will be formed.
