Will the decision of fuel ban be applicable in the rest of NCR Cities besides Delhi? What is the rule right now – no fuel forward vehicle policies does this rule will implement on other ncr rights apart from delhi

In the country’s capital Delhi, the state government has implemented the ‘No Fuel for Old Vehicles’ policy since last tomorrow. Under this rule, a diesel vehicle older than 10 years old in the end-of-life (EOL) category will not be given fuel to petrol vehicles older than 15 years. To strictly follow the new rule, teams of commission for air quality management (CAQM), Transport Department, Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) and other enforcement agencies including other enforcement agencies including Delhi Police are strictly negotiating at petrol pumps in Delhi.

How is monitoring?

Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) camera and big speakers have been installed at all petrol pumps in Delhi. This camera is monitoring all the vehicles coming to the fuel station. As soon as an old vehicle of an Eol category reaches the petrol pump, this camera identifies it with its number plate and it is publicly announced by the speaker. A notice board has already been installed at all fuel stations that, from 1 July 2025, the end-of-life vehicles will not be given fuel.

What is the rule

  • Petrol-diesel will not be given to vehicles coming in the end-of-life (EOL) category.
  • Currently, old CNG vehicles have been given relief.
  • Older vehicles will be confiscated if they are identified.
  • A fine of Rs 10,000 for breaking the rules by Charpahia
  • A fine of Rs 5,000 for violation of rules by two -wheeler
  • Action will also be taken on the petrol and petrol violation of the rules.

62 lakh vehicles will be junk

According to vehicle transport, there are about 62 lakh vehicles in Delhi which fall in the end-of-life vehicle category. That is, their age has been completed. These include 41 lakh two wheelers and 18 lakh four wheelers. The government has appealed to the citizens to send their old vehicles to the scrap themselves so that any emergency can be avoided.

80 vehicles seized on the first day

Around 80 vehicles have been seized on the first day under this campaign being run for the end-of-life prevention of vehicle and pollution. However, the officials told Aaj Tak that, the vehicle owners will be given a chance once, they can take their vehicle by paying the fine. But if they do not follow the rules in time, then the vehicle will be confiscated finally.

Will these rules be applicable in other NCR Cities?

Let us know that this new rule has been implemented only in Delhi only. Under this, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras have been installed and monitored on petrol pumps of Delhi only. According to the rule, no old vehicles of (EOL) category, whether registered in any state, will not be supplied to fuel at Delhi’s petrol pumps.

But from November 1, there is also a plan to install these cameras at petrol pumps in the vicinity of the vicinity of Delhi like Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Sonipat. However, no such rule has been implemented in these cities. No action will be taken on old vehicles outside Delhi. But in the coming time, such old vehicle owners should be prepared and either sell your vehicles in other states as per rules or send them to the scrap.
