14 Veeranganas of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have created a new record by conquering the 7,135 meter high Mount Nun peak of Ladakh. Now their next goal is to conquer Mount Everest (8,848 meters), the world’s highest peak.
This historic climb in August was led by 56 -year -old Assistant Commandant (General Duty) Bhavnita. He said that an order was received from the headquarters that only a women’s team should be formed. For this, women in the age group of 18 to 35 years were selected who completed the advance mountaineering course.
Next target mount Everest
Bhavnita said, ‘After choosing the team, we went to Leh-Kargil. In a difficult journey of 15 days, our women achieved this feat on the strength of their strong and resolve. Now when it comes to Everest, we are confident, because the eldest climbers on Everest have been 70-80 years old, while our team is young and fit. We will pay more attention to training and will definitely meet the goal.
During this campaign, the team faced many challenges-
-Cold cold and height disease
-Climbing icy hill
-Glacier and deep cracks filled with deep cracks
-Physical and mental pressure
-Prustful bad weather
‘ITBP teams will climb Everest every year’
Despite all this, the women commandos achieved success with courage, discipline and teamwork. ITBP Director General Rahul Rasagotra said that this achievement not only makes the tradition of ITBP more glorious, but is also a symbol of women empowerment. The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed that ITBP teams will climb Everest every year for the next three years. But for the first time this opportunity has been given to the women’s team.
