Indian passport ranking: Tax and Immigration Consultancy Nomad Capitalist has released the ranking of the world’s most powerful passport. This time Ireland’s passport has come at number one. This is the first time Ireland has topped this ranking.
Passports of 199 countries have been analyzed in this list, including India’s passport. However, India’s ranking has already gone down and down. On the other hand, Pakistan’s passport has been counted among the weakest passport in the world as usual.
How is the passport ranking fixed?
According to CNBC, the method of nomad capitalist is different from the rest of the ranking. Usually, the power of passport is measured only on the basis of how many countries it facilitates visa-free travel but the Nomad Passport Index also sees every year how the influence of countries in the world is changing.
Nomad capitalist decides the ranking of passport based on five major factors:
- Visa-free travel-50%
- Tax system (tax) – 20%
- Country image in the world – 10%
- Dual citizenship facility – 10%
- Private Freedom – 10%
Keeping all these things in mind, the power of passport is measured every year.
How is the passport ranking?
Nomad capitalist depends on government data, real-time intelligence information and research to evaluate the power of passports. Mobility score is used to decide the passport rankings, which shows how easy it is to travel with a passport. This includes many things such as:
- Visa-free travel
- Visa on arrival (Visa on Arrival)
- ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization)
Apart from this, the tax system of every country is also tested and scored between 10 to 50 marks. In this way it is decided which passport is the most powerful.
How to make Ireland’s passport number 1?
The Nomad Capitalist Passport Index 2025 ranked Ireland with a 109 nomad passport score after analyzing 199 countries. Last year, Ireland lagged behind Switzerland, but this year came again at number 1. Earlier in 2020, Ireland finished first with Luxembourg and Sweden. Nomad Capitalist’s research colleague Xavier Korea told CNBC Travel that Ireland got this lead for three reasons:

- Business tax policy for business
- Flexible citizenship policy
For these reasons, Ireland’s passport again became the most powerful passport in the world this year.
World’s strongest and weakest passport in 2025
According to the Nomad Capitalist Index 2025, Ireland’s passport has been considered the strongest in the world. Irish citizens are allowed to live and work without any interruption in the entire European Union and especially the UK, which is one of its biggest forces. Top 10 strongest passport countries are as follows: Ireland (1st position), Switzerland (2nd), Greece (2nd), Portugal (4), Malta (5th), Italy (5th), Luxembourg (7th), Finland (7th), Finland (7th), United Arab Amarat, New Zealand, and Iceland (all three). These countries are at the top of passport power, because their citizens get more freedom, visa-free travel and better tax policies.
Pakistan’s passport again the weakest
In the Nomad Capitalist Passport Index 2025, the United States is ranked 45th with San Marino. At the same time, Pakistan, Iraq, Erritria, Yemen and Afghanistan are at the bottom of the weakest passport list. His ranking has come between 195 and 199, that is, he is considered to be the weakest passport in the world.
Indian passport rankings
India is ranked 148th in the Nomad Capitalist Passport Index 2025, which it shared with Comoros. India got a total of 47.5 marks, which are as follows:

- Personal Freedom – 20 Points
Last year, India was ranked 147th with Mozambique, that is, its ranking has fallen slightly this year. Apart from this, India’s ranking has also fallen from 80th place to 85th in Henley Passport Index. This index is based on the data of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
