Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved another achievement on Wednesday when India fifted fifty in Old Trafford (Manchester) in the fourth Test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. The left -handed batsman completed his 12th Test half -century. He became the first Indian opening batsman to score a half -century in Manchester after 51 years since 1974.

Batting veteran Sunil Gavaskar was the first Indian opener to score a half -century at this place. He scored 101 runs in 251 balls in 1974. On this, India scored 246 runs in the first innings. After this, England made 328/9 in the first innings. Gavaskar also continued his innings in the second innings and scored 58 runs in 140 balls. But India lost by 113 runs.

In 1990, Sachin Tendulkar made his first Test century at this place. In the second innings, then Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin scored 179 runs in the first innings, and ended on the match draw. Since then no Indian batsman has been able to make a century in Old Trafford. In 2014, India suffered an innings defeat while playing a Test match in Manchester.
