Controversy has arisen over the way third umpire Sharafuddaula Saikal gave out Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings of the Melbourne Test. On the fifth day, Pat Cummins came to bowl the 71st over of India’s second innings and Yashasvi Jaiswal hit a shot on the fifth ball. The ball passed close to the bat and glove and reached wicketkeeper Alex Carey. He caught hold of it and made a strong appeal. The field umpire rejected it. Captain Cummins took a review on which the third umpire after seeing the replays announced the decision of out. There was no movement in the Sneoko meter, a machine that captures the sound. According to this, the ball had neither made contact with the bat nor with Yashasvi’s gloves.
