Ukrainian President Valodimir Jailonsky was expecting a successful conversation with Donald Trump at the White House on Friday. His plan was to sign the mineral agreement, which would give the US a strong participation in Ukraine’s future. But instead, Jailonsky faced the sharp allegations of Trump and Vice President JD Vance in front of the media around the world.
Trump demanded a ‘more thanks to’ for Ukraine for the US assistance, while Jailonsky dismissed the ceasefire suggestions with Russia. When Jailonsky denied the ceasefire, the US President said, ‘You have no status. You are standing on America’s weapons.
The tension increased so much that Jailonsky was asked to leave the White House ahead of time and the proposed mineral agreement remained without any signature. Trump wrote on social media, “When you are really ready for peace, come back.”
How to deteriorate Trump and Jailonsky’s conversation
First confrontation: Heated debate between Jailonski and Wanes
Although initially there were good conversations and formalities for half an hour, but after a comment by Vance, tension started increasing in the oval office.
Vance: (Tight tone) The path of peace and prosperity goes through diplomacy. This is the President doing trump.
Jailonski: What diplomacy are you talking about JD? What do you mean?
Vance: The diplomacy that can prevent the destruction of your country.
The Vice President accused Jailonski of being derogatory and said that there was no need to come here and argue in front of the US media.
Second conflict: When Trump got angry
Jailonski: Everyone has problems at the time of war, even you. But you have an ocean, you are not feeling yet, but will do it in the future.
Trump: Do not tell us what we are going to feel. You are not in a position to order us. You are playing with the stubbornness of millions of people. Right now you do not have any cards. You are gambling in the third world war.
Third confrontation: Trump said- you were never alone!
Jailonski: We were alone from the beginning of the war, but still we are grateful.
Trump: You are not alone. We gave you $ 350 billion.
Vance again asked if Jailonski had thanked America during the meeting. He accused the Ukrainian President of campaigning for ‘Opposition’- Democrats- during the US elections last year.
Jailonski: Please, you think if you speak about war in a loud voice …
Trump: He is not speaking loudly. Your country is in great trouble. You are not winning. Because of us, you have a very good chance to recover and come out.
Fourth Conflict: Trump’s final decision
Trump: It is very difficult to do business in this way. There will be no compromise until the approach changes.
Vance: You just say thank you …
There is silence inside the White House. Jailonski’s ambassador Oksana Markarova holds her head and sits down. Trump stopped the conversation in the middle and Jailonski also left the White House and went to his hotel. The White House reported that Jailonsky was asked to go.
A renowned official said that after the meeting, the Ukrainian leader tried to bring the tour back on track, but National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and External Affairs Minister Marco Rubio told Ukraine officials that Trump had asked Jailonsky to leave the White House immediately. The Ukrainian delegation, who was waiting in a nearby room, was not invited for the commonly invited lunch meeting.
