YouTuber Jasbir Singh’s remand increased in espionage case

The Moholi Court on Saturday extended his police remand for two days after the Punjab’s famous YouTuber Jasbir Singh alias Jan Mahal was arrested on charges of espionage. Jasbir Singh was arrested on 4 June and was produced in the court after his three -day remand ended. The police had demanded a seven -day remand, but the court approved only two days.

According to the report of the news agency, the police said that Jasbir Singh is related to a large detective network, which has the support of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Police claim that Jasbir Singh was not only in touch with the Pakistani Intelligence Operative (PIO) Shakir alias Jatt Randhawa, but he was also in touch with an officer of Pakistan High Commission, who has recently been expelled from India on charges of espionage.

Jasbir Singh, who is a resident of Mahan village in Rupnagar district, used to run a YouTube channel named ‘Jaan Mahal Video’, which has more than 11 lakh subscribers. On the channel, he used to post videos related to travel and cooking, but investigation revealed that he had traveled to Pakistan thrice. In 2020, 2021 and 2024. According to the police, during these visits, he also met the Pakistan Army and ISI officials and later he was admitted for espionage activities.

Earlier, YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, a resident of Hisar, Haryana, who ran a channel named “Travel with JO”, was also arrested on charges of espionage. Malhotra was in touch with Pakistan High Commission official Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, which was expelled by the Government of India on 13 May. The police is investigating this entire espionage network, which was playing with the security of the country under the guise of social media.
