Pathum Nissanka made a cautious start and completed a half -century off 54 balls without any pressure. As he spent time at the crease, the pace of scoring his run also increased, and he completed a century with great fours off 111 balls. His innings adorned with 16 fours was a mixture of continuous spin and timely aggression, which ensured that Sri Lanka never lost his grip while chasing a target of 278 runs.
It was not easy to chase the goal. Sri Lanka’s innings collapsed due to the early dismissal of Nuvanidu Fernando and Kusal Mendis. The innings of 31 runs of Sadira Samaravikrama came to an end when she was seen freezing. But Pathum Nisanka found an ideal partner in the form of captain Charith Asanka. The left -handed batsman gave the team momentum by playing a fast innings of 71 runs in 61 balls and the two together shared a decisive partnership of 90 runs.
Nisanka eventually got out after reaching the target. After this, Asanka and Jenith Liange easily won Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won with three balls left. For Zimbabwe, Richard Nagarwa and Brad Evans took two wickets each.
