New Delhi. Former veteran player Kevin Pietersen called Varun Chakraborty to be included in the Indian team for a three -match ODI series against England as a ‘brilliant decision’. Chakraborty took 14 wickets in the five T20 match series against England and played an important role in India’s 4–1 victory.

Peterson told the media during an event, “England batsmen will perform better against him (Chakraborty) in ODIs as he can spend more time at the crease.” This is a long format, it is not necessary to play a shot on every ball. But I think it is a great decision to include Chakraborty. ”

Peterson termed England’s defeat in T20 as ‘calamity’. He said that if the subsidy was used in place of fast bowler Harshit Rana in place of Shivam Dubey, then the series in Pune would have become equal. This was a disappointing series from England’s perspective. I think if the Convention Substitute was done correctly in the fourth T20, England would have won.

Peterson said, “It would have been equal to 2-2 before the match in Wankhede. But this did not happen. Abhishek Sharma is fantastic.
