Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar Inugrated Namma Raste Said even God Can’t Transform Bengaluru Overnight

Karnataka Deputy CM in Namma Raste: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar said on Thursday (February 20, 2025) that the transparency of Bengaluru is not possible overnight, even if God himself comes. He said that long -term urban planning is required for the sustainable and systematic development of the city.

During the launch of the ‘Namma Rasta – Design Workshop’ and Traffic Laboratory in the Central Office of Brihat Bangalore Municipalities (BBMP), Shivkumar said, “It is impossible to change the Bengaluru overnight, but if we make appropriate plans and effectively Apply, then definitely changes are possible. “

He further said that it is necessary to maintain uniformity, quality and discipline in urban infrastructure. The government aims to prepare standard designs for all bus stops, metro poles and traffic junctions, so that equality remains in the entire city.

The objectives of ‘Namma route-2025’
Transport system, traffic management and urban planning will be discussed in this program to be held from 20 to 22 February. This initiative will help find effective solutions for roads, footpaths and traffic control. Shivkumar gave strict instructions to remove overhead cable in the city and convert them into underground networks. “We gave enough time to the cable operators. Now we have issued an order to cut all overhead cable. When these are removed, the solution will be found itself.”

Challenges of Habbal-Silk Board Tunnel Project
Land acquisition, financial and technical challenges remain for the 18 km long tunnel road project. Tender for this project has not been released yet.
The double-dekar metro system has been implemented in some new corridors, but this was not possible in the current metro route. 1,700 km long white-topping roads are being built, which is expected to run for the next 30 years. New roads will be constructed near Stormwater drains and elevated corridor projects.

‘Namma route’ booklet
Shivkumar compared the ‘Namma Marg’ booklet to the Indian Constitution and said that it would be a roadmap for long -term development of Bengaluru. He said that the suggestions of students, youth and various organizations will be published on a website, so that extensive participation is ensured.

Concern about Kannada language
Reacting to the declining use of Kannada language in Bengaluru, Shivkumar said that “Kannada is our identity, our breath and our life.” He supported the policy of making 60% Kannada and 40% English compulsory for signage. He also warned that action will be taken against those who do not follow this rule.
