The Education Minister of West Bengal was surrounded by SFI students.

There was an uproar over the demand for immediate student union elections at Jadavpur University in Kolkata. Members of CPI (M) Student Union SFI, protesting, surrounded and vandalized the car of State Education Minister Balata Basu. Basu reached the college to attend the annual meeting of West Bengal College and University Professor Association.

Basu’s health deteriorated due to the car windscreen break and surface. He was immediately rushed to SSKM Hospital. Doctors checked them. Currently, his condition is fine.

Regarding the incident, Basu said, ‘It is clear from the protest that the true form of SFI is undemocratic and uncontrolled. These people raised slogans against the teaching community.

On the incident, TMC General Secretary Kunal Ghosh said- A section of the students abused a professor Pragu Mukhopadhyay. Those who made fun of him will be tightly dealt with. The etiquette of the ruling party should not be considered weakness. Any act of rude behavior should be dealt with properly.

SFI leader Kaushiki Bhattacharya said- Students wanted to discuss with Basu only, their only demand was that the student union elections should be held as soon as possible.
