The unnecessary intervention of the police in building construction and other construction works in Delhi will now be banned. After the high level meeting in the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Delhi government has issued a strict circular in this regard. In fact, a high level meeting was called in the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday regarding the attitude of the police. The meeting was chaired by Union Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was also present in it. In the meeting, many issues were discussed in the meeting and all the top officials including the police commissioner were also instructed to change their functioning, but a big instruction has been issued to the policemen on behalf of the Delhi government just after the meeting. These instructions are about the interference of the police in construction work in Delhi.
Usually, such complaints come from many places that the police remains more active about building construction or construction of any kind. Policemen intervene are so many times that they take action like banning construction works and complaints of corruption are also common, but after the meeting in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Additional Chief Secretary of Delhi Government Naveen Kumar Chaudhary has issued a circular.
Taking action on disturbances Municipal Corporation
It has been clearly stated in this circular that it is the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation to take action against the disturbances in the construction work and the role of the police in it is negligible. Citing the existing rules, it has been said that before the construction work, no permission is required from the police.
Corruption will also be controlled
Based on this rule, the circular specially states that there has been a misunderstanding among the people that it is necessary to get permission from the police before doing the construction work, whereas according to the rules, there is nothing like this. However, it has also been said in this circular that according to the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act 1957, if any illegal work is being done, then the police can inform the MCD. Taking advantage of this provision, policemen misuse it many times.
Police will cooperate in MCD action
It is also mentioned in the circular of the Delhi government that the Delhi Police, who is their field workers, should tell them that misunderstandings should not be spread among the people and no provision should be misused. Overall, by doing this, the wrong interference of the policemen is likely to be reduced in the construction works. In the last lines of the circular, it has also been said that stopping the policemen from unnecessarily interfering does not mean that when the MCD goes to stop such tasks, the police should not help them.
