Bridge course starts for 9th class in government schools, emphasis on reducing drop -out rate – Bridge Course to Reduce Drop Out Rate in Class 9 in MP Government Schools LCLN

The school education department has started a bridge course to improve the study level and efficiency of students taking admission in class 9th in government schools of Madhya Pradesh. Under this initiative, training is being given to 27 thousand teachers across the state, so that the foundation of children can be strengthened in major subjects like Hindi, English and Mathematics. This course is also expected to help in reducing the drop-out rate.

The School Education Department has prepared 9 thousand 312 resources for the bridge course, whose training has been completed in February 2025 at the Valmi Institute of Bhopal. The process of training each teacher of Hindi, English and Mathematics in 4 thousand 200 high schools and 4 thousand 100 higher secondary schools in the state has started from March. A total of 27 thousand teachers are being prepared for this course.

Bridge course operates and timelines
The trend teacher will conduct the bridge course in April and then from 16 June to 20 July. This course will be applicable in all government high and higher secondary schools. Apart from Hindi, English and Mathematics, science and Sanskrit studies will also be done. The Directorate of Public Education has prepared a time table for this and issued instructions to all schools.

Baseline and endline test arrangement
Tests will be conducted in two stages to check the effect of the bridge course. Baseline test will be taken on 5 and 12 April, whose question papers will be uploaded on the ‘discourse’ portal on 31 March. Alternative arrangements have been made for the students who have not been able to give the test. The answer sheets of the baseline test will be evaluated by teachers on the same day. Based on this, special attention will be given to weak students. At the same time, at the end of the course, there will be an endline test between July 21 to 25, which will measure the progress of children.

Monitoring and evaluation
Teams of officials have been formed at the state, division and district levels to monitor the bridge course. District education officers have been instructed to monitor at least 10 schools every month, in which the District Project Coordinator and Block Education Officer will cooperate. Apart from this, random will be re -evaluated of 10 percent of the students’ answer sheets at the district level, so that the quality of the course can be ensured.

Reacted at drop-out rate
The school education department believes that the bridge course will not only increase the educational efficiency of the students, but will also reduce the drop-out rate. The Directorate of Public Education has resolved to monitor the progress of children throughout the year and make a continuous effort to overcome their weaknesses.
