New Delhi. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has suffered a major setback before IPL 2025. The team’s fast bowler Mayank Yadav will not be able to play in the first half of the IPL. Mayank is recovering from a back injury. These days, he is rehabping under the supervision of doctors at BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bangalore. Mayank Yadav was injured during the T20 series against Bangladesh in October last year.
Lucknow Super Giants have retained Mayank Yadav for Rs 11 crore. He is the most expensive and fastest bowling bowler of LSG. In such a situation, LSG may lack Mayank. According to Cricinfo, the BCCI has not given any fixed date for Mayank’s return. If they meet all fitness standards, they can play in the second half of the IPL.
Mayank Yadav is the new face of the Indian team, who has made his mark in the whole world within two years. LSG bought him as an unaccounted player for Rs 20 lakh in IPL 2024. He performed well in IPL 2024 and was elected twice the Player of the Match. Lucknow recognized his talent and retained for IPL for Rs 11 crore. The selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar also considered Mayank’s talent and gave him a place in Team India.
Former fast bowler and LSG team director Zaheer Khan recently told that the franchise is preparing a roadmap for Mayank Yadav’s return with the BCCI medical team. The first match of Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025 will be held on March 24 with Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam. Interestingly, the new captain of Lucknow Rishabh Pant was with Delhi Capitals in the last season.
