He had bilateral talks with PM Modi at the request of Mohammad Yunus in the capital Bangkok. During this time, the two leaders warmly shook hands with each other and interacted on bilateral issues.
Bangladesh had already made a formal request for this meeting, which India accepted. It was a bilateral dialogue, which was held on the sidelines of the Bimstec Summit.
This meeting is being considered an important diplomatic step in India and Bangladesh relations amidst the current stressful phase. Earlier, the two leaders were seen together at a dinner organized by the Prime Minister of Thailand, Partagarn Shinavatra.
The two leaders have met at a time when Mohammad Yunus has been in controversy over talks with President Xi Jinping during his visit to China. Bangladesh Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus, who visited China, had said on the land of China that the only guardian in the sea of ​​this region is Dhaka. While inviting China to invest in his country, Younus allegedly listed India’s compulsions and said that it has a big business opportunity in Bangladesh.
Mohammed Yunus, while referring to the northeastern states of India, said that the northeastern states of India, which are called Seven Sisters. They are land surrounded by land from all sides, the land lock locked area of ​​India. They have no way to reach the sea. The only guardian of the sea in this entire region is Bangladesh.
However, no official details have been released by both countries regarding the bilateral talks between PM Modi and Mohammad Yunus. The incidents of violence in Bangladesh have increased after Sheikh Hasina’s withdrawal from power in August 2024, which affected bilateral relations.
India has repeatedly expressed concern over attacks on Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. Let us know that this meeting of the two leaders took place for the first time after the coup of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government on August 5 last year.
