Gorakhpur is also going to play a big role in UP’s ethanol production. A large ethanol plant in the district is going to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister. Two more plants will be ready to contribute in the coming days. Gorakhpur, eastern Uttar Pradesh will emerge as a hub of ethanol production at three places in the same district.
Four thousand people employment
With the Yogi government’s investment incentive policy, the largest ethanol plant of the private sector in Gorakhpur has been prepared. It made an investment of Rs 1200 crore. The foundation stone of its plant was laid by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on 12 August 2023 and now the inauguration on 6 April is also proposed to him. Officials said that the production of grains (rice and maize) based ethanol has started in this distillery. In the first phase, the plant of 3 lakh liters per day production capacity has been activated. After its expansion in three phases, the total production capacity will be 10 lakh liters per day. The MoU has already been done with Indian Oil for consumption of ethanol. This plant has also paved the way of employment for four thousand people directly and indirectly.
A provision of Rs 90 crore
At the initiative of the Yogi government, ethanol will also be produced in Pipraich sugar mill. The government has made a provision of Rs 90 crore in the budget of financial year 2025-26 for setting up plants for ethanol production. The production capacity of this distillery will be 60 thousand liters per day. Here a plant that makes ethanol directly with sugarcane juice can be set up. With the production of ethanol in this sugar mill, sugarcane price will be paid to the farmers and quickly.
Ethanol production
Ethanol will also be produced in the coming days in Dhuriyapar of the district. On the initiative of the government here, the project of Indian Oil’s Bio Fuel Complex is getting tangible. In the first phase of this project, the compressed bio gas (CBG) plant has been launched at a cost of Rs 165 crore. Ethanol will be produced in the second phase of the Bio Fuel Complex Project.
