State General Secretary of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) Shahjeb Rizvi has resigned from his post after being angry with the party’s support on the Waqf Bill. He announced this by releasing a video and made sharp attacks on party president Jayant Chaudhary. Shahjeb Rizvi said that Muslims had supported Jayant Chaudhary wholeheartedly, but they did not do justice to the community.

He alleged that Jayant Chaudhary has deviated from the path of secularism and now his policies are contrary to the interests of the community. In his statement, he said, “Muslims voted for Jayant Chaudhary by filling the bag, but they supported the Waqf Bill instead of standing with us. It is against our feelings and rights.”

Controversy over Waqf Bill

Let me tell you that there was already dissatisfaction in many Muslim organizations about the Waqf bill, but after the support of RLD, now the voices of protest are also coming up within the party. Many Muslim leaders of the party also resigned after the support of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party JDU’s Waqf Bill.

Tabrej Siddiqui, who describes himself as the state general secretary of the minority cell of JDU, resigned. Earlier, Mohammad Qasim Ansari of East Champaran and Nawaz Malik of Jamui also announced their resignations on social media. However, JDU national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad described these resignations as fake and said that these people were not in any official post in the party. He claimed that the party is fully supporting the Waqf Bill, which will benefit poor Muslims.
