PM Modi and Bangladesh Chief Advisor Yunus appeared together in Thailand … tomorrow may be a meeting – PM Modi Likely to Meet Bangladesh’s Yunus, Nepal PM Oli on Bimstec Sidelines NTC

Prime Minister Narendra Modi can meet Bangladesh Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus on Friday. If this happens, this meeting will be first met by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after his outdation of power last year. This meeting will take place during the 6th Bimstec conference, which will be discussed face-to-face for the first time after 2018.

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh Muhammad Yunus were seen sitting together in the official dinner organized by the Prime Minister of Thailand on Thursday. Due to this, there has been speculation about the possible meeting between the two leaders.

Modi can also meet Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, at a time when protests are being held in Nepal to demand the restoration of the monarchy by a section of the society. Prime Minister Modi will also meet Myanmar’s Senior General Min Aung Halaing, who is on a rare international tour, while the country is struggling with the recently disastrous earthquakes.

India has sent relief material to Myanmar and is providing assistance by setting up field hospitals for the treatment of the injured under Operation Brahma.

Significantly, Myanmar has been facing civil war since the military coup in February 2021.

The meeting between Modi and Yunus is considered important, as India-Bangladesh relations have declined after the Hasina government was out of power in Bangladesh and the attacks on minorities there. Apart from this, in some circles, the question has also been raised about how much Younus has control over the administration of Bangladesh. This meeting is taking place at a time when Younus recently visited China and some of his statements there were uncomfortable for India about the Northeast region.

On March 26, Prime Minister Modi wrote a letter to Younis on Bangladesh’s National Day, saying that India is committed to further strengthening its partnership with Dhaka. He also underlined the importance of the liberation struggle of Bangladesh, which is considered the cornerstone of the Indo-Dhaka partnership.
