All 33 judges of the Supreme Court will make the details of their property public. This decision has been taken to maintain the trust of the people amid discussions related to corruption in the judiciary. According to the high sources of the Supreme Court, this decision has been taken in the meeting of all the judges chaired by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna on 1 April.
How long and how the public announcement of property will be made is being decided. A high official of the Supreme Court has told that soon the information will be in front of the people. There is still a provision for the announcement of property from Jazo, but it has not been kept mandatory. It is being told that the proposal fixed in the meeting of April 1 will also apply to the future judges of the Supreme Court.
Earlier on 26 August 2009, the then judges of the Supreme Court made public information about their property. Still the Chief Justice is informed about this, but it is not made public.
