Waqf amendment bill amit shah in Lok sabha said waqf is charitable institution can not be donate government property

Amit shah on waqf bill: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (April 2, 2025). During the discussion on the Waqf Bill, the opposition parties targeted the BJP fiercely. Speaking in Parliament, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the discussion that has been going on since morning has been closely heard. Many members have misconceptions in their minds and an attempt has been made to spread across the country through the House.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Amit Shah said, ‘Waqf is the word which means donation of property in the name of Allah. Right now the meaning of Waqf is understanding, Waqf is a type of charitable institution. Donation can be of what is ours, I cannot donate government property ‘. He further said that the Waqf Parishad and the Waqf Board came in 1995. There will be no non -Islamic in Waqf. There is no non -Islamic in religious operations’.

‘In 2013, amended to appease overnight’

Home Minister Shah said, ‘Charities are being spread among minorities for their vote bank. Waqf is religious, the Waqf Board Council is not religious. Not a single non -Muslim will come in your Waqf. Taking a dig at the opposition, Shah said that the Bhagat that was found under his rule will no longer run. If the Waqf amendment was not done in 2013, then there is no need to bring this bill today. In 2013, this amendment was made to appease overnight. Our government does not want to interfere in the Waqf, but whether the property of Waqf is being maintained properly, whether it is being done according to the law or not, the objective of the government is to see it.

‘123 properties of Lutyens Delhi were given to Waqf’
Targeting the opposition, Amit Shah said, ‘1500 years old property was given to Waqf. Railway land was given to Waqf. 123 properties of Lutyens Delhi have also been given to Waqf. From 2001 to 2012, assets worth 1 lakh crore were given on lease. Land was taken to build a 5 -star hotel with a rent of 12 thousand rupees a month.

‘What did Lalu Yadav say in the 2013 amendment’
He said, ‘What Lalu Prasad had said in the 2013 amendment, welcome the government’s amendment. I support the words of Shahnawaz Hussain. Amendment supports the bill, but strict laws should be brought about it.
